Have you ever felt…

  • TORN between your identity and roles as a Hmong woman at home and in the mainstream American life?
  • STUCK and LOST because you’re not sure what you’re meant to do and where you’re meant to go from here anymore?
  • ISOLATED and LONELY because no one seemed to understand you?
  • A YEARNING for something more — more life clarity, more success, and more meaningful work?

If you ever felt this way, then know that you’re not alone.  In fact, you have come to the right place!

Hmong Women Today (HWT) is created with YOU in mind!

If you’re anything like me, you’re a Hmong woman growing up feeling like your identity, roles and life direction seemed to have been predefined for you at a young age. Every now and then, you feel confused, stuck and frustrated because your heart and soul is whispering to you “there’s more.”

Let’s face it, when a girl is not encouraged, let alone, allowed to think or choose for herself, she is likely to disconnect from her true essence and eventually to experience a life feeling unfulfilled.  We believe that what Hmong women need is a safe environment for us to connect with other women, share our experiences in a healthy way and redefine our own life success.  In doing so, we will gain new perspectives, embrace our vulnerability as our power and grow to become the best version of ourselves.  If this speaks to you then this is an invitation for you to join us!  It’s time to explore what else is possible for you!

I’m Annie!

…and I’m passionate about personal empowerment, personal mastery, and personal freedom!

I started my journey of personal rediscovery and self-actualization at the age of 30. I have spent thousands of dollar on courses like Advanced Communication Skills and Evolved Neurolinguistic Programing (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and the Lifeline Technique.  Each year, I travel to strange places (sacred grounds); for a week long of personal retreat: doing yoga, meditation, and eating gluten free food with people I have never met before.  I believe I’m my best investment, and I’m committed to my growth and personal mastery every single day!

My personal transformation has inspired me to create HWT for you because I want you to have a nurturing environment that allows you to grow without fear, to bravely listen to your heart’s calling so that you can design a life of passion and purpose.  So join us as we take on a journey of redefining life success, exploring new possibilities and inspiring change together!

I’m Choua!

I’m a strategist and a planner. I love making sense of chaos, and I believe that there is no task too big or too far to reach.

Four years ago, I crossed path with Annie and we begin talking about creating a space for women to come together, to share ideas, inspire creativity, find balance and be a valuable resource to one another.  Over the last 4 years, we’ve had more and more women joined our space, and we’ve learned that we all have a common desire.  That desire was to connect, to feel validated and to serve. As women, we are an amazing force, and when we come together to share a common energy, we are even more brilliant.

Growing up, I was fortunate to have been surrounded by many incredible people who have profoundly made their imprints on me and influentially shaped me to be the person I am today. They each have taught me that there is no such thing as “I can’t”. And my dad, who instilled in me every day to never let my gender define how high I want to climb. A glass ceiling is only glass.  The most valuable lessons I’ve learned and applied to life has come from personal experiences and adversaries. I  believe that our struggles are like chisels that work into every crevice of who we are; crafting and shaping the artwork of who we become. Our strengths are refined through these moments. With Hmong Women Today, I have discovered that every woman is a different piece of artwork; each a unique energy and strength that makes up a bigger picture of who we are as a community.  We all have much to inspire and learn from one another, and as Hmong Women Today continues to grow, I look forward to the many connections and opportunities this organization will continue to present.
