A little over three years ago, Hmong Women Today was born out of a conversation on Facebook to have a monthly meet-up to bring Hmong women together for the purpose of building connection, networking and personal/professional growth. I took the initiative and hosted our first meet-up in Sacramento, CA. We had about 40 women attended our first meet-up. Some women drove for 3 hours to come to join us. I was moved by the power of community, the opportunities and possibilities we can create together.

At our event, it is normal for us to experience healing tears, laughter and connecting with long lost friends as well as making new ones. Most importantly, we experience a safe and supportive space which allows opportunities to gain new perspectives and growth.

The more we come together, to share with and learn from each other, we realized we are not that different. We face similar life challenges as Hmong women. We see the need to balance our roles as a mom, a wife, a daughter-in-law and a professional because we want to thrive feeling empowered and free to create whatever we desire.

Women Retreat
In early 2014, the idea of a Hmong Women Retreat was born. Along the way, we were inspired to grow and expand our vision as Hmong Women Today. As we do so, we were blessed to gain so much support and donations from our families and friends which enabled us to put on two retreats so far and sponsored a total of 8 sisters to attend the retreat at no cost. Also, we were able to keep the cost of the retreat as low as $100 to $125 per person for a two nights weekend.

Our Networks

Our community grew and had also inspired other women from another local area like the Twin Cities, MN, Fresno, CA and San Jose, CA, Sacramento, CA to launch their local network.

Due to the interest and growth of Hmong Women Today, I decided to take Hmong Women Today to the next level as a company dedicating to create even more opportunities for women to shine.

What we do

In moving forward, we make it our goal to host an annual Hmong Women retreat, a conference, build robust local networks of amazing Hmong women and a website or blog to add even more values and educational training for you.

I hope that you will join us in one of the upcoming events.
